Di Holdsworth

Pygmalion’s Folly, after Gerome (detail), 2022, kinetic music box assemblage

Di Holdsworth is an artist living in the Blue Mountains, Australia. She creates kinetic assemblages that are automated with handmade mechanics and music boxes. The layered narratives in her work are underpinned by myth and fairy tale.

Her delicate sculptures recreate our first experiences of clockwork and wind-up objects, with their freaky-fascinating movements, their parody of human mechanics, their unnerving foreshadowing of adult desires and relationships.
